BEFORE AND AFTER
Like many who fall in love with a pre-war home, Drew wanted to preserve all the original details. But at almost 100 years old, the wood floors had been sanded one too many times, while moldings were gloppy from dozens of bad paint jobs. It was all simply too worn to salvage. To get the classic home he truly wanted, we needed to tear it all out and rebuild from scratch.
Since none of the old bits could be saved, completely new floors, moldings and doors were installed to match period styling. The change offered the opportunity to replace awkward swing doors with pocket and sliding doors. Thoughtful storage and hoosier hardware make for a new kitchen that looks as if it's always been there.
The result is an authentic vintage-style home, better than it ever was and built to last another 100 years.
