BEFORE AND AFTER
Abingdon Square Bathrooms
There are three things that bore me to tears: subway tile, Carrara marble and all-white schemes. So it was a challenge when Jude, a dyed-in-the-wool traditionalist, wanted exactly that for her bathroom renovation.
We settled on a compromise: Her guest bath would be a simple facelift, reusing the traditional vanity and lights, with a classic tile treatment including liners and crown. I did convince her do a robin's egg ceiling (the only non-white paint in her entire house). But the master would use a combo of large and small subways in a simple (though difficult to install) stacked layout. A modern stone washstand and medicine cabinet give it a clean, elegant look.
