BEFORE AND AFTER
Turtle Bay Tune-up
The charm of this lovely pre-war studio was there to be discovered, and the kitchen and bath were the best places to start.
Originally a Formica and faux wood situation, starved for storage and counter space, the kitchen was completely revamped by adding cabinets under the windows and up to the ceiling.
Framing the space with a beautiful arch and simplifying the step integrates the kitchen with the living area, while paneled appliances give it a seamless look. Ribbed glass doors show off pretty dishes while unlacquered brass handles and lighting add warmth.
Scroll down for the transformation.
A thoughtful floor plan separated the bath from the living area with a dressing room. The space only needed a calmer palette and better materials to be pretty.
Shifting everything to a black / white and ivory palette with subtle art deco flair fits the age of the building, and brings in luxe details like the herringbone marble tile and art glass lighting.
The walk-in shower is kitted out with towel bars so stylish you'd never realize they are actually grab bars. The ceiling-mounted shower head douses the bather with a luxurious but eco-conscious soak.
