BEFORE AND AFTER
Park Avenue Living Room
Wendy brought me over before putting an offer in: Was buying this '80s-era apartment worth it? If we took down the kitchen wall, and let in all that blocked sunlight, then YES.
Post-renovation, a cozy dining table and big sectional are perfect for soaking up all that sunlight. But open concept living requires beautiful storage: We adapted store-bought armoires with floating shelves backed by light-reflecting mirrors.
Fixing the architecture to create a calm, serene space was key: a pale neutral palette lets colorful artwork shine; worn parquet is replaced by wide dark planks that ground the room; doorways are unified and widened; faux beams connect conjoined spaces. New baseboards, dressed-up HVAC cabinets, and sculptural lighting complete the look.
