BEFORE AND AFTER

Harlem Townhouse Parlor Floor

This floor-through was spacious but under-utilized until we flipped nearly everything in it: The dining room was moved to the front by removing a redundant closet; the kitchen axis was turned 90 degrees to run a massive island down its length; and a utility closet / powder room was reversed so the toilet would be out of view.

A *tall wall* of pantry storage was created along the blank elevation of the old dining room. Sliding steel doors create a focal point on a wall that had been a mess of builder-grade hinged doors. A floating sink is installed in the niche that once was an overburdened broom closet. And a bulky sheetrock balcony is replaced with an airy glass railing. Now the space feels as big as it actually is, with tons of new storage.
