BEFORE AND AFTER

Harlem Penthouse Kitchen

Color blocked cabinets swap out builder-grade basics, taking advantage of the room height to add extra storage.

White oak, colored by three different stains mixes with dramatic black "brick" tiles and two types of natural stone, plus porcelain floor tiles. The tall wall  is packed with custom pantry pullouts, spice drawers, and a broom closet. Over the stove, a steel light rail mimics the visor hood for a clean line across the wall cabinets. At the bar counter, a wine fridge is hidden behind a ventilated slider door.
