BEFORE AND AFTER

Second Time's the Charm

Todd had previously renovated his tiny galley kitchen, refacing the original 1960s cabinets and acting as his own project manager, but was never truly happy with the result. The kitchen had not aged well; counters were cluttered and he could never find a place to put everything away.

We gutted the kitchen this time, using inexpensive gloss cabinets with heaps of efficient storage, plus clean, modern tiles. The short deep fridge was replaced with a tall cabinet-depth model but we were able to reuse the stove and microwave. Now the kitchen is a better match for Todd's collection of midcentury furniture and artwork.

Scroll down for the transformation.
